Carbury National School Memorial Project

I had the immense privilege of making a very meaningful memorial wall mosaic for Carbury National School Sligo. We have all had a tough year with the pandemic but Carbury had an extra difficult time as their principal, Alan Moffitt sadly passed.

The staff and acting principal commissioned a piece that would speak to elements of his personality: his love for the outdoors, nature and growth and most especially the great undertaking of building the new premises that sits on the garavogue today.

Each person in the school, children, teachers, support staff made a tile that when all put together, makes the river and captures this moment in time. Alan's hat is left on the bow of the boat in a personal reference to the man who 'steered the ship' in Carbury for 25+ years.

The 2mtr long mosiac now spans the front foyer wall of Carbury school.
